Toprol XL Review
Toprol XL – You Can Treat Your Heart Right With Toprol-XL
Toprol-XL is a selective beta receptor blocker used to treat several diseases of the cardiovascular system such as high blood pressure (hypertension), heart attack and angina pectoris (a chest pain caused by lack of oxygen to the heart due to clogged arteries). Toprol can also be used to treat other conditions which your doctor will advise you of.
Toprol-XL – metropolol succinate
They way this medicine works is to treat stable symptomatic patients with class II and III heart failure which is usually caused by heart muscle disorders, high blood pressure, or blocked heart arteries.
Toprol-XL is effective when used on its own to treat cardiovascular diseases. It can also be effectively used with other high blood pressure medications. Toprol simply works by using beta blockers to reduce the demand of oxygen, decrease the heartrate, and force of heart contractions. By acting on these factors the blood pressure can be reduced.
Toprol XL can also be used for other purposes that your doctor will advise you of including the treatment of aggressive behavior, to relieve temporary anxiety, and to prevent migraines.
For the bests results take Toprol-XL exactly as prescribed, on a full stomach with food or milk, at the same time everyday if possible. You should not crush or chew the tablet but take it whole. If you find it difficult to swallow a whole tablet you can cut it in half.
The drug should be avoided by people with any of the following:
- inadequate output from the heart, certain heart irregularities
- severe bradycardia (extreme slowing of the heart rate)
- sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock
- any allergy to Toprol-XL or its ingredients
If you suffer from any liver disease, peripheral vascular disease, asthma, seasonal allergies, or other bronchial conditions use Toprol-XL with caution and only if your doctor has prescribed it and been fully informed of your medical history. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you will need to discuss with your doctor whether the use of Toprol XL is appropriate. You should note that the effects of Toprol-XL in these circumstances has not been completely studied so the effects are unknown.
Metropolol when taken in excess is dangerous and can cause overdose symptoms such as:
